H2O Entertainment are UK's top Urban Music and Film Music Production Team. We are based in London and are accepting project proposals for commercial work now. Please take a look around our web site before you decide to contact us for further information.
H2O Entertainment has gone through a series of phases since the idea for the project was born in the minds of two people in year 2002.
Rick Ilyas and Jason Grant were two guys working in IT and studying for a degree in IT. Even though both of them were experts in computer related solutions, Rick and Jason were primarily passionate about music. Isn't it funny how every musician seems to be interested or working in IT?!
Rick and Jason both had very similar ideas about UK music industry and were not seeing much worth taking notice of. They both wanted to make good quality music and make something worth while. They were both incredibly concerned with working to highest of the standards and using their engineering backgrounds to make some new sounds too, apart from good quality hooks and beats.
Rick and Jason were ready to start working on some music projects together. The only trouble was that Rick and Jason did not know each other!??!?!
Having met each other through Sound On Sound forum, Rick and Jason has a coffee in London's Totenham Court Road, discussed putting Rick's studio together and after briefing each other on how high a standard they like to work to, they finished the 6th coffee of the day and decided to part ways.
After a while, Rick and Jason got back together to test out Rick's newly purchased synths and other music gear. They started experimenting with engineering of new sounds and developing a new framework for making music. Mutual understanding started to develop.
"What would a mix sound like in my car?" - said Rick after 7th coffee one day. Jason was sure that after 6 months of working on the mixes, H2O was ready and good enough for public playing.
After hearing the music play back really quietly in Rick's Honda and the quality of the final cut being well below par, Rick and Jason almost parted company that day. Too much coffee or IT industry being a better option for both guys?!
It was not long before a realisation was made by both guys that "if big results are to be achieved, we need to spend time and time in the studio, engineering sounds, learning numerous techniques, working with different people, commit to the game and not leave until we are the best Urban music producers in the UK!!!!".
We called this phase "wrapping the game up" and did not realise that it was going to take us near enough 2 years in order to complete it. After two years of excruciating pain and non-stop music production sessions (lasting longer than 12 hours each) and after many cups of coffee and burgers consumed, Rick and Jason finally had some tracks worthy of playing in some of London's finest night clubs and Radio stations.
"How can we best present our work to people worldwide?" - said Jason in one of his studio-based quasi-management think tank sessions, while consuming only the 3rd cup of coffee of that day (by this time heart palpitations have caused newly branded H2O Team to 'give up coffee', which in reality meant cutting down to three cups a day).
The work commenced on wrapping up numerous tracks recorded over this "discovery period" and the birth of 'The Element' was seen. By this time H2O Team had professionally built business cards and many much more concrete values (like concrete music industry contacts, increased credibility amongst underground artists who were hearing about H2O's 'hit factory', experience of media exposure and much more).
As H2O Entertainment continues topping up its assets (web site, album production, contacts, completed projects and so on) much more concrete value is being added to the H2O brand.
It is only a question of time before H2O steps its game up to the level where it will become a household name amongst UK's music production circles. What's next? H2O wants to work on music for films now and work is being carried out on projects relating to that branch of the industry.
Rick and Jason can today say that they are confidently one of the most capable and most professional music production teams in UK. They are happy to challenge anyone to prove them wrong. The quality benchmark is also being raised all the time and the music is getting better and even more experimental all the time.
What's the future like for H2O? Nobody knows really! The only fact that is certain is that H2O is here to stay and is bound to improve even further, as passion for music from H2O Team is being developed further and their experience becomes bigger.
Watch this space in the future to see what H2O will be able to achieve. The web site will be the main way of releasing news and updates on the progress.
